Animation - Allows you to show objects by shooting one image at a time. When video is played back, objects appear to move on their own.
DTV - "Digital television." This comprises all the components of digital television, including HDTV, SDTV, datacasting, and multicasting, falling under the standards established by the ATSC.
IPI - Irreversible Processed Indicator, a tab on the cassette. Depressed or broken in photofinishing to serve as an alternative indicator that the cassette has been processed.
Pixel - A picture element; a single displayable video dot. HDTV requires from 1 to 2 million pixels in the display for full resolution images to be shown.
Primary Color - A color that is the basis for all other color combinations. The primary colors are Red, Green and Blue (RGB) in light; Cyan, Magenta and Yellow (CMY) in color photographic printing. In offset color printing, black (K) is added to CMY inks to more accurately reproduce an image.
Speaker Level - The signal output after the amplifier stage. This is the signal that is fed to the speakers.
Spectrophotometer - Device used to measure the quality and accuracy of a color monitor and the film or paper output.
Video-on-Demand (VOD) - A programming library service offering the individual viewer the choice of the available content on demand. When the program is requested and confirmed (by telephone or Internet) it is then delivered to the viewer over an available channel in encrypted form. VOD services are generally arranged on a "Pay per View" basis, analogous to the cinema.
